Flying Into Epilepsy Research

Episode 1 1/16/2020 In the premiere episode of "Office Hours", we hear from Alexa Roemmich, a graduate student in cell and developmental biology at the University of California, Irvine, about her research on epilepsy. Using Drosophilia, commonly known as the fruit fly, she alters their genes to induce epilepsy, and studies how different medications affect their brains. The drugs she tests the effects of include CBD, which is emerging as a surprising new epilepsy treatment. Our intro song was "If I Had A Dime" by David Ryan Harris.
